Blocking Hackers with Windows Firewall In Windows Vista

windows firewall is a tool to potect your pc from malicious or hacker ,but you cannot protect virus by using windows firewall,and you can also stop sending mallicius to other pc if you have malicious on your pc.there are three main setting in windows firewall
On (recommended)
Afteri nstalling windows vista,your windows firewall will be om,because thats the default setting and some of your program will be blocked you can add it to the Exceptions list and you can see it on the Exceptions tab and allow the program

Block all incoming connections
you need it if yo want to fully protect your computer as example Windows Firewall doesn't permit Firefox to make connections, it will be a "Server not found" error when you try to browse to so you need to give Exceptions list

Off (not recommended)

You can switch of the windows firewall if you want to use another firewall
